Call to Me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know. — Jeremiah 33:3
How often do we give ourselves opportunities to experience silence? Maybe not the extreme but moments where we don’t turn on the television, a podcast, or music. The phone is off, the computer is off, and we just allow silence to exist with us in it for small blocks of time, to simply breathe.
In these moments we can be still to rest, to reflect, to hear God tell us secrets of wisdom. Silence will never be easy or feel natural to a culture obsessed with technology attached to us 24 / 7.
Wisdom tells us to get comfortable being uncomfortable. We are in charge of our own pause button (thank you, Kerri Brimmer!). Let’s schedule margin so that we can receive more by being still and silent.
Take a walk — without your phone, without your earbuds. Just you, just for a moment of silence.
